Anacortes Motorcyclist Injured in Collision

Motorcycle Crash

Anacortes, WA – The Washington State Patrol Responded to a two-vehicle crash around 5:52 a.m. this morning on Marchs Point Road at S. Texas Road.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 46-year old Scott Sterling of Cottage Hills, Illinois was traveling Northbound on Marchs Point Road in a 2009 Dodge Ram Pickup when he attempted a U-Turn.  27-Year old Bradley Kertis of Anacortes, was also traveling Northbound on Marchs Point Road on a 2006 Kawasaki EX650 Motorcycle and did not have time to react to avoid hitting the Dodge Ram Pickup.  Mr. Kertis was seriously injured and airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment.

Mr. Sterling was not injured in the crash. Troopers said Mr. Sterling did not see Mr. Kertis before attempting the U-turn. Drugs or alcohol were not suspected in the crash. Troopers listed the cause of the crash as inattention. Possible charges are pending.

The Dodge Truck received $2,000 worth of damage and was driven from the scene. The Motorcycle was totaled and impounded by Anacortes Towing.
