Burlington, WA – On September 12th, 2019, Burlington Edison High School Staff was made aware that a student had made a threat  to harm  Burlington Edison High School students.

In a Letter to parents from Burlington Edison High School Principal Jeff Baines wrote “Earlier today, it was brought to the attention of our administration that a student had made a threat on B-EHS. The report included threats about violence to our school community. Immediate action was taken and contact with the Burlington Police occurred. The student was isolated from the rest of our school’s population. No weapons were found on campus. Immediate disciplinary actions were taken on the student.

The safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance at B-EHS. Threats to our learning environment and our school community are taken very seriously. We will continue to work with local law enforcement to address incidents and threats of this nature to ensure a safe campus. We have also been in contact with our local police department to ask for an increase police presence over the next 24 hours.

Incidents such as these are a good reminder that if you see or hear something unusual, report the information to a B-EHS administrator. Students, parents, and staff may call or text 855.714.0195 to anonymously report safety or other concerns at schools. Tips can also be emailed to 1377@alert1.us. Tips are investigated and handled internally or forwarded to Burlington Police or Skagit County Sheriff’s Department, as appropriate.”

“I am thankful for the students that contacted B-EHS staff today to alert us of the situation,” wrote Baines.

“Thank you for your continued support and vigilance in keeping B-EHS a safe place to learn and work.”
