Skagit Mayors & County Commisioners Letter to Governor Inslee

Letter to Governor Inslee from Skagit County Mayors:

The mayors of the 8 cities and towns of Skagit County are united in our urgent request for you to move Skagit County forward to ‘Phase 2’ of the State’s phased re-opening plan.

Our cities have followed the lead of our highly competent and state-leading County Public Health Department. We have taken cues from your Office to formulate our decisions based upon science and data; and we believe this watchful approach has carried us through the adverse stages of early outbreak, and into a more stable and secure place of now finally having; robust health care system-readiness, extensive case and contact investigation capabilities, one of the most prolific testing capacities in the state, and consistently low cases of new infections.

We have been patient and diligent in these efforts, and we are confident that we are prepared to take the next step in our cautious battle against the spread of this virus.

We are not wavering from our community message of persistence and safety. And we are not lapsing in our determination to position ourselves for continued safety standards, as well as steady, innovative economic opportunity and growth.

With the health, safety, and prosperity of Skagit County and Washington State at the forefront of our decisions, we would like to thank you for your consideration of our request to include Skagit County on the growing list of Phase 2 counties in Washington State.
