La Conner, WA – The La Conner Community is coming together to show their love and support for one another after a 7-Year old Girl passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on Friday, June 17th, 2022.
According to a GoFundMe account setup for the family, 7-year old Sicily Witton of La Conner, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep. Sicily had just completed First Grade at La Conner Elementary School. She loved gymnastics, volleyball, basketball, swimming and sewing classes. She had recently completed a blanket for her kitten in sewing class. One of her favorite past times was playing on and exploring the local beaches with her family and neighborhood friends, according to the Go Fund Me page.
In a Facebook post from the La Conner School District, they wrote “La Conner Community and Families: It is with great sadness that we inform you that one of our La Conner elementary students passed away on Friday. We are shocked and saddened by this news and know that our tight-knit school community will be deeply impacted by this loss. We will take every step possible to be responsive to the needs of our students and families. Sicily is survived by her family, which includes her parents Erin (Parker) and Phil, her brothers, 8-year old River and 5-year old Miles. Erin Parker, Sicily’s mom wrote on Facebook “The sadness and Grief we are experiencing over the death of our beloved Sicily is beyond words.. thank you everyone for your love & support, and open arms.”
In a separate Facebook post, Erin shared a photo of Sicily with the caption “Our Family has never felt more blessed to be in the community that we are in, right now. Thank you everybody.”
The La Conner Co-Op Preschool shared the following statement on Facebook. ” Dear preschool family, It’s with broken hearts that we share that Sicily Whitton, older sister of our dear Miles, passed away last week. It’s incomprehensible that a week ago today we were playing with her at Miles’ birthday party. I’ll miss her big smiles and hugs for her brother through the preschool playground fence! Please, let’s do all we can to lift up Phil and Erin, River and Miles during this time of unspeakable grief. I’ll be sharing Erin’s Venmo account in the comments if you prefer it to GoFundMe.
