UPDATE: Arrest Made in Mount Vernon Walmart Gang Related Shooting

Mount Vernon, WA – PRESS RELEASE: 7/22/22 12:00 P.M. Through collaborative efforts with multiple agencies, Investigators have determined that three male juvenile gang members had a confrontation with rival gang members within Walmart, 2301 Freeway Drive, Mount Vernon, WA. Multiple shots were fired; three of the involved were injured by gun fire. A male customer 76 years of age was struck in the leg as he was fleeing from the incident. A 24-year-old Walmart security guard was also shot numerous times.

Investigators have identified the suspects involved in the shooting. Early this morning, warrants were served at two locations in Mount Vernon. With the assistance of the Skagit County Sheriff’s
Office, Washington State Patrol, Sedro Woolley and Burlington Police Departments, the locations were secured, and search warrants executed.

Numerous firearms and evidentiary items were located during the search. As a result, one suspect surrendered and was booked into the Skagit County Juvenile Detention on five counts
of Assault 1st Degree. Two other suspects, both juvenile males, are still at large.
