ANACORTES, WA- On January 26th, 2016 around 2:43 pm, the Washington State Patrol and Swinomish Police Department responded to a 2 car hit and run crash on State Route 20 near Marches Point Road.
According to multiple witnesses, a suspect, described as having a green top on, fled the scene on foot after crashing a green 1997 Honda Accord. The witnesses were able to positively identify the driver to Swinomish PD officer’s who first arrived on scene. Swinomish PD located the suspect who was only wearing long underwear and he identified himself as KEIL DANKO of Yakima, Washington.
The vehicle, a green 1997 Honda Accord, had recently been reported stolen out of Burlington.
Officers noted that Mr. Danko’s eyes were extremely watery and bloodshot and an obvious odor of intoxicants was coming from his breath.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Mr. Danko stated that he had been drinking “all day” but that he had not been driving the vehicle. When Officers asked Mr. Danko if he would he willing to submit to any voluntary field sobriety tests, he refused and then asked if the Officers would buy him a drink instead.
Mr. Danko ‘s driver’s license is currently suspend for Alcohol Condition/chemical dependency.
Mr. Danko is currently being held in the Skagit County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail on charges of Hit and Run, DUI, Possession of a stolen vehicle, and driving on a suspended license 3rd.
