Alaska Man dies in Kayaking Accident in Granite Falls, WA

Granite Falls, WA: November 30th, 2014.

 

A 24 year old man from Alaska drowned while Kayaking with his friends.  According to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office,  the man and  two of his friends were kayaking Sunday afternoon in the river near a location known as Sand Hill.

After the man’s Kayak overturned, the reporting party was able to get the man out of the water and  back to shore, but resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.

Because of the location of the body on the shore, as well as weather conditions and river conditions in the area, search and rescue teams will not be recovering the man’s body on Sunday night.

Search and rescue will resume with daylight hours on Monday morning t.o recover the victims body.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
