MOUNT VERNON: Community Action of Skagit County is pleased to announce the return of the annual Have a Heart Run to Edgewater Park in Mount Vernon on May 2, 2015. The Have a Heart Run is a family-friendly event professionally managed by Skagit Runners and open to both individuals and teams. All proceeds go toward Community Action of Skagit County’s programs.
Participants can choose from beautiful courses along the Skagit River, including a 2K walk, 5K or 10K walk/run, and a free Half Pint Half Mile for children 9 years old and under. For those who would rather volunteer or stay home, signing up as a virtual runner is also welcomed. Volunteers can sign up now to help at SkagitVolunteerCenter.org, or through the link at HaveaHeartRun.org. All who are interested are encouraged to sign up and start raising pledges today!
The Have a Heart Run is an annual fundraising event that directly supports the heart of Community Action: creating a spirit of hope by helping people help themselves and each other. Last year the run engaged 87 volunteers, 358 participants and 15 sponsors, raising just under $20,000 that helped Community Action better serve the Skagit community.
Community Action of Skagit County is a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Mount Vernon, WA. The heart of Community Action is creating a spirit of hope by helping people help themselves and each other. We do this by stabilizing families, equipping people to exit poverty and strengthening safety nets and local pathways out of poverty for our clients. The Skagit Volunteer Center is a program of Community Action, which is a hub between 1,000+ volunteers per year and 160+ community nonprofits.
