WA drivers reminded to remove studded tires by March 31st

March 31st DeadlineSource WSDOT:  The Washington State Department of Transportation reminds all drivers to remove their studded tires by midnight Sunday, March 31.

Driving with studded tires on your vehicle after the March 31st  deadline  could result in a $124 ticket. Studded tires can wear down payment, so removing them promptly helps extend the lifetime of local roadways.

Tire removal services, such as Les Schwab can get crowded as the deadline approaches, so plan early to avoid long wait times.

Washington and Oregon have the same tire removal date.  Other states may have later deadlines, but the Washington law applies to all drivers in the state, even visitors. No personal waivers are issued.

More information about studded tire regulations in Washington is available online.
