Birdsview, WA Saturday, August 1st: One of the many calls for the Birdsview Fire Department on Saturday during their fundraiser at the Birdsview Brewery, was a call to a home fire alarm. After discovering there was no emergency, the volunteers turned around to head back to the brewery. See our article on Birdstock HERE.
One fireman was in a personal vehicle, which is a common practice in small communities for firefighters to respond via a personal vehicle. . He was traveling west on Highway 20 when he was struck by a mail delivery truck
. The mail truck was turning onto Baker Lake Road from the shoulder of Eastbound State Route 20.
There were no major injuries, but we are told that the fireman’s truck was totaled. The volunteer was not able to make it back to the benefit and we did not hear anything about the driver of the mail truck. We hope, with how busy the Birdsview Fire Department was on Saturday, that he has been able to get back to helping our community!
The other major call that the Birdsview Fire Department were the first responders to, was a drowning in the Skagit River- ARTICLE HERE
