Skagit County, WA: Skagit Breaking is proud to join the Washington State Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration, The National Coalition for Safer Roads (NCSR) and police agencies from around the United States to raise awareness about red-light running.
The National Stop on Red Week campaign runs from August 2-8th and highlights the dangers of red-light running that motorists face every day.
According to a report from American Traffic Solutions, via the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), nearly 700 people were killed in 2013 from crashes involving red light violations, and an estimated 127,000 were injured.

- Yellow lights are an indicator to slow down and prepare to stop.
- Come to a complete stop before turning on red.
- Scan intersections and approach with caution, even if the light is green.
- Yield to pedestrians. They have the right of way.
A recent national survey from AAA, shows that a majority of U.S. drivers support photo enforcement programs to stop red-light running. Roughly, ninety-four percent of drivers say it is somewhat or completely unacceptable to drive through a red light when the motorist could have stopped safely.
