Bellingham, WA: In the early morning hours of August 20th, 2015, Bellingham Police Officers responded to the Viking Village Condo Apartments in the 1000 Block of Otis Street in Bellingham for reports of a shooting that had just occurred.
Witnesses reported hearing a single gunshot and saw a female victim lying on the deck of her apartment.
Witnesses responded to the victim’s location to administer first aid but she was deceased, after suffering from a gunshot wound to her head.
Witnesses reported seeing a man named, Raymond Gilbert leave the scene on foot.
A Washington State Patrol K-9 Officer attempted to track the suspect but was unsuccessful.
Hours later Raymond Gilbert turned himself into police and he was taken into custody without incident.
Raymond Gilbert is a known acquaintance to the victim and at this time it appears that he and another man made have previously had arguments with the woman. No one else was physically injured.
Raymond Gilbert was booked into the Whatcom County Jail for one count of Murder 1st.
