SR 9 Lake Creek bridge to open soon
Contractor crews tentatively plan to open the new SR 9 Lake Creek bridge sometime in the next week. As soon as we have the date, we’ll let you know. The bridge remains closed as concrete finishes curing. When it reaches the proper strength, the highway will reopen. SR 9 has been closed at Lake Creek since July 20 to build the bridge, which replaces a 1950s-era culvert under the roadway. The culvert made it difficult for fish living in the creek as well as migratory species to move upstream. A new creek bed was built beneath the bridge, opening up about 10 miles of additional habitat for fish.
