SR9 Crash Injures Two Mount Vernon Residents

Clear Lake, WA- On October 24th 2015, around 7:40 pm Troopers from the Washington State Patrol responded to a serious injury collision with entrapment on State Route 9 near Babcock Road, just outside of the town of Clear Lake in Skagit County.  This is approximately milepost 51.8.

According to the press memo, Jane Miller, 60 of Mount Vernon, was driving a 1992 Honda Prelude Northbound on State Route 9 near Babcock Road when she lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway to the East and struck a tree.

Firefighters from the Clear Lake Fire Department responded and used extrication tools to remove the driver from the wreckage. She was transported to Skagit Valley Hospital In Mount Vernon where her condition is unknown.

A passenger in the vehicle, Russell Gilbert, 63 of Mount Vernon, was also injured and transported to Skagit Valley Hospital after being extricated by firefighters and medics on scene.

The press memo states while both occupants of the vehicle were wearing their seat belts, troopers believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash and charges are pending against the driver of the vehicle.

The vehicle was totaled and impounded to the Washington State Patrol Bullpen by Budget towing.
