Blaine Woman Dies After Slater Road Crash

Fatal Accident-File PhotoWhatcom County, WA- The Washington State Patrol responded to a two car crash on Slater Road at Haxton Way around 1:17 pm on November 13th, 2015 in Whatcom County.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol Shannon Parrish of  San Luis Obispo, CA  (formerly from Burlington)  was headed Eastbound on Slater Road in a 2001 Volvo.

Olivia Hamilton, 19 of Bellingham, was Westbound on Slater Road in a 2000 Subaru Forester when she attempted to turn Southbound  onto Haxton Way in front of the Eastbound Volvo.   The two vehicles collided in the intersection.

A passenger in the Volvo, 75 year old,  Lillian Moir of Blaine was injured in the collision and later died at St. Joseph’s Hospital as a result of the collision.

The press memo states all three subjects were wearing their seat belts and drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash. Both drivers had minor injuries.

The Volvo was towed by Johnsons Towing. The Forester was driven from the scene.

The press memo states charges are pending against the causing driver and the accident is under investigation.

Shannon Parrish was in Washington from California,  visiting family, including her aunt who died in the accident.
