Clear Lake, WA- The Washington State Patrol responded to a five Car Fatality Collision on Francis Road near Clear Lake around 5:25 pm on December 6th, 2015.
According to the press memo from The Washington State Patrol, Michael Stephenson, 43 of Mount Vernon was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado Eastbound on Francis Road, when he crossed the center line and struck several vehicles.
The first vehicle hit was a 1998 Ford Ranger, driven by Lucia Morales, 28 of Mount Vernon.
The Second Vehicle hit was a 1984 Mercedes Benz 300, driven by Jill Elwick, 49 of Sedro Woolley.
The force of the crash caused the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado to rotate, where it was struck again by a 2002 Honda Civic, driven by 52 year old Jeffrey Goudy of Mount Vernon.
A 2013, Ford Focus, driven by 51 year old, Steven Brown of Mount Vernon then struck the 2002 Honda Civic.
All vehicles came to rest blocking the roadway.
According to the press memo, all occupants were wearing their seat belts.
Michael Stephenson (Silverado) was injured and booked into the Skagit County Jail on an investigative hold for vehicular Homicide. His vehicle was impounded by Advanced Towing to the Washington State Patrol bull pen.
Lucia Morales (Ford Ranger) was not injured and was released at the scene. Here vehicle was impounded by Carl’s Towing to the Washington State Patrol bull pen.
Jill Elwick (Mercedes) died as a result of her injuries. Her vehicle was impounded by Budget Towing to the Washington State Patrol Bull pen for safe keeping.
Jeffrey Goudy (Honda Civic) was injured and transported by Aid to Skagit Valley Hospital. His vehicle was impounded by Budget Towing to the Washington State Patrol bull pen.
Steven Brown (Ford Focus) was not injured and was released at the scene. His vehicle was impounded by Budget Towing to the Washington State Patrol bull pen.
The Cause of the accident is listed as “over the center line and Investigation for “driving under the influence.”
According to the press memo from the Washington State Patrol, charges are pending against Michael Stephenson, the causing driver for Vehicular Homicide and Vehicular Assault.
