State Route 20 will be reduced to one lane from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 11. The closure will allow Puget Sound Energy to install utility poles in preparation for WSDOT’s $5.8 million SR 20 safety improvement project.

The project will reroute Parker Road to connect to Morris Road to keep traffic moving. It will close the SR 20 intersections at Parker Road and at Smith Prairie Road.

The plan will add turn lanes at Morris Road and the near county transfer stations. This has been a problem area for trucks and other automobiles entering and leaving the highway.

Work on the safety improvements will begin this summer.
