Sharpes Corner: WSDOT is Seeking Public Input

Anacortes-  Accidents are frequent at Sharpes Corner on State Route 20 in Anacortes. The Washington State Department of Transportation is looking for input on a number of solutions to improve safety and traffic flow at an upcoming open house.

The Public is invited!

Learn about the options being considered and share their ideas on how to improve the traffic issues at Sharpes Corner, and the nearby Miller-Gibralter road and Fidalgo Bay road. WSDOT will host an open house from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, January 28th, at Anacortes Middle School, 2202 M Ave. in Anacortes.

The project was initially funded more than a decade ago, but it was shelved in 2009 by the state Legislature before a preferred solution could be chosen. WSDOT is currently gathering updated traffic data and reviewing information from previous plans. Public feedback will help WSDOT select the most appropriate options for the stretch of highway.

This will be the first of three open houses for the project. WSDOT will host additional open houses in the spring and summer. Construction is scheduled for 2018.
