Burlington Police Respond to Robbery at Haggen

Burlington, Washington– Officers from the Burlington Police Department responded to reports of a robbery  in the 700 block of Haggen Drive on April 18th, 2016.

According to records from the Burlington Police Department,  obtained by SkagitBreaking.com, a cashier at the business reported that a male subject came into the store just after midnight and approached her from behind. The suspect pressed his body against her back and demanded that she give him money from the cash register.

The cashier Complied with the robbers request and he fled the store on foot. A second employee briefly followed the suspect from a safe distance and called 9-1-1.   The employee was able to provide  a description of the suspect to dispatch.

Burlington Police Officers  were able to locate the suspect near the 900 block of S. Burlington Blvd.   The suspect was arrested and was found to be armed with two knifes. Police located money from the robbery on the suspect’s person.

The suspect is a  20-year-old male from the La Conner area. According to the online Skagit County Jail Roster, Wyatt Melton, was booked into Skagit County Jail just before 2:30 am on April 18th, for investigation of Robbery 1st degree and Robbery 2nd Degree.  He is currently being held in Lieu of $25,000 bond/bail.
