One Dead In Crash on Pioneer Highway Near Stanwood

STANWOOD, Washington – According to a press release from Shari Ireton, communications director for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office a  one-car collision last night resulted in the vehicle catching fire and the driver dying at the scene.

The incident was reported to 911 around 10:30 PM that a truck had gone off the roadway at the 23400 block of Pioneer Hwy and was fully engulfed in flames.

Once the fire was extinguished, personnel on the scene were able to confirm that the driver was deceased in the vehicle   The driver is believed to be an adult, but gender and identification of the victim is pending from the Snohomish County Medical Examiner, as well as the cause and manner of death.

The Sheriff’s Office Collision Investigation Unit is investigating the cause of the collision.
