Anacortes Man Arrested for Rape of a Child

Anacortes, Washington– An Anacortes man who fled to South America in 2015 to avoid arrest, was arrested by the Anacortes Police Department on July 20th, 2016 on suspicion of four counts of 3rd degree Rape of a Child and 1 count of Rape in the 2nd degree.

According to a probable cause affidavit of arrest obtained through a public records request by SkagitBreaking.com, Zachary Roxborough of Anacortes was arrested on July 20th, 2016 by Officers from the Anacortes Police Department after they had been tipped off that Mr. Roxborough had returned to the Anacortes area from South America.

Court Documents show that the then 19-year old  Mr. Roxborough was accused of Rape in October 2015 by a 16-year old acquaintance after the victim said he forced himself on her,  against her will,  while they were hanging out as friends on July 2nd, 2015.

An investigation by Detectives from the Anacortes Police Department later determined that Mr. Roxborough had also had a consensual sexual relationships with at least two 14-year old teens during the same time period.

Text messages between one of the teens and Mr. Roxborough indicated he  thought he had impregnated the 14-year old teen and he wanted her to “get an abortion.”

Investigations revealed that Mr. Roxborough had been out of the country in South America, only returning occasionally to Miami, Florida for the vast majority of the time since the allegations were brought against him. Witnesses told detectives that he left the country to avoid arrest.  Once Anacortes police were tipped off that he was back in town, they arrested him within a matter of days.

Mr. Roxborough is currently being held in the Skagit County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail  for investigation of four counts of Rape of a child in the 3rd degree and one count of 2nd degree rape.
