Burlington, Washington- On August 9th, 2016, around 4:00 pm a dash cam video taken by David Alger of Anacortes, and shared by KD AERIALS caught a scary incident in the Costco Parking Lot on camera.
An unidentified woman leaving the gas pumps, accidentally left her gas cap hanging out. Another car pulled alongside of her vehicle and the passenger pointed to the unsecured gas cap.
The stop-light was red, so the lady exited her car to screw in the gas cap. Unfortunately, she forgot to put her car in park. The now drivers-less car started to move forward, and the lady tried to run alongside and jump in the vehicle but she didn’t make it and was dragged a few feet and then fell and the left rear tire of the vehicle ran over BOTH of her legs.
As you can see in the video, this tough lady jumped up and dusted herself off insisting she was unhurt and wanted to cross the busy intersection to get her car.
Her car was pursued through the intersection by the good Samaritan whose daughter had originally pointed out the gas cap hanging out.
The Driver-less car proceeded to jump the curb across the street and run into a tree in front of Starbucks. The Good Samaritan managed to save several vehicles from being hit by the driver-less car as she chased it through the intersection.
The miracle of the whole incident, is the woman who was run over, jumped up and was more worried about her car, than any injuries sustained to her person. The many other car drivers that witnessed this incident unfold, managed to avoid the intersection and allow all this to transpire without further incident.
The Burlington Police Department received a copy of the Dash Cam video as evidence in the incident.
