Concrete, Washington- On August 2nd, 2016 around 9:53 am, Skagit County Sheriff Deputies responded to a home in the 41000 block of South Shore Drive in Concrete for reports of a possible burglary in progress.

Neighbors in the area heard someone inside the residence and saw a bike and suitcase full of items out front.  The residence has numerous “No Trespassing”  signs posted around the property as it had a fire last winter.

Several neighbors contacted the subject who was seen coming out of a trailer that is parked behind the residence.

Officers arrived and spoke with the suspect who they later  identified as Almonte Carter Benjamin with a last known address  in Sedro Woolley.

Officers noted that Mr. Benjamin  had soot on his clothing and hands.  He told Officers he had gone onto the property to get a bike and  that he had opened a window to the residence but did not go inside.

Officers contacted the homeowner and described the suitcase, bike and items to him.   The homeowner stated the suitcase full of items  and bike had been taken from inside the residence, shed and from the trailer that Mr. Benjamin was seen exiting by neighbors.

Almonte Benjamin was arrested and  booked into the Skagit County Jail. He is currently being held in lieu of $10,000 bail for Suspicion of Residential Burglary.
