Sedro-Woolley Officers Respond to Shooting Incident

Sedro Woolley, WA – Officers from the Sedro Woolley Police Department were dispatched to a weapons offense of “shots fired”  in the area of the Sedro Woolley High School near the corner of Bennett Street and 3rd Street around 1:00 am on October 19th, 2016.

According to a press release from Sedro-Woolley Police Chief Lin Tucker, Sedro-Woolley Officers located the victims of the incident, who are two residents of the Stanwood, Washington area.

Upon interviewing both victims it was found that the incident started with a confrontation near Safeway in Mount Vernon.

The men were driving in a Maroon Ford Ranger and they pulled off of Riverside Drive  into the Safeway parking lot near the old Blockbusters, now Verizon Store,  where they engaged in some kind of verbal argument with several “transient types” who were in the parking lot.

A window was broken on their Ford Ranger by a suspect, who left in another vehicle with a female driver and another male passenger.

The men in the Ford Ranger  got back into their vehicle and followed the suspect to Sedro-Woolley via I-5 to Cook Rd. Once in Sedro-Woolley the chase continued to the area where  the shooting occurred.

During another confrontation at 3rd St and Jameson St, a male arrived on foot and broke another window on the Ford Ranger. It is believed this suspect is connected to the suspects from the original confrontation, but was not at the original incident in Mount Vernon.

Both passengers from the Ford Ranger  chased after the suspect on foot after the second  window was broken. The suspect on foot ran away, but turned and fired rounds toward the two men – missing both subjects. The suspect fled the area on foot and  a K-9 track was unsuccessful in locating the suspect.

The suspect with the gun was described as a lighter colored skin male possibly Hispanic or possibly Caucasian who is between 5′ 6″ and 5’8″ with a medium build. The suspect is said to have light colored hair and was wearing a long sleeve white shirt or sweatshirt with blue jeans.

Detectives are reviewing evidence and following up on leads at this time.

If you have any information on the incident you are asked to call the Sedro-Woolley Police Department.
