Man Hit By Truck After Walking Into Traffic in Burlington

Burlington, Washington- The Washington State Patrol responded to a serious injury crash in the 600 block of Avon Avenue in the City of Burlington around 8:24 pm on November 3rd, 2016.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, a Burlington Police Officer had responded to a report of a suspicious pedestrian  in the 600 block of Avon Avenue.  An Officer contacted the man, later identified as 72-year old Doroteo Coronareyes of Mount Vernon.     The  man walked away from the contact with the Officer and into traffic where he was struck by a Westbound 2003 Ford Ranger Truck. The truck was driven by 66-year old Harwood Bannister of Burlington.

The Pedestrian was seriously injured and airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where his condition is unknown.

The driver of the truck was not injured and the truck was driven from the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation and charges are pending in the case.
