Suspect in Stolen Car Runs from Sheriff’s Deputies

Skagit County, WA – Skagit County Sheriff’s Deputies were attempting to make contact with the driver of a  stolen white Toyota Camry around 10 am this morning when the driver tried to ram a Skagit County Sheriff’s Deputy.

The vehicle had previously been reported stolen out of the Anacortes area.  The driver, described as a white male,  fled  Westbound on the South Skagit Highway before ditching the vehicle in the area of Finny Cumberland Road.  The suspect took off running on foot.

Deputies from the Skagit Count Sheriff’s Office have set up containment in the area and the customs and border protection helicopter “Omaha” has been assisting with air support in the search for the suspect.

The situation is ongoing and additional details will be released as they become available.
