Shooting Near Acme Leaves One Man Dead

Acme, Washington – The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a gunshot victim in the 6000 block of Saxon Road around 8 pm on Tuesday, December 6th.

According to a press release from Whatcom County Sheriff Bill Elfo, a 27-year old man and his girlfriend were sitting in a car in front of a house in the 6000 block of Saxon Road when a male walked up and after a few words were exchanged,  shot the victim in the head  through a car window at point blank range.

The suspect is described as a man in his 20’s with a small build,  wearing a black bandana around his face.

Law Enforcement responded to the area and secured the scene so Fire and EMS units could provide medical aid  to the victim.  The victim was then  air lifted to St. Josephs Medical Center in Bellingham.

Multiple Law Enforcement agencies searched through the night with K-9’s and a helicopter.  Sheriff Elfo, said in his press release that  the shooting victim  was a deliberate target and the community is not in danger of random attacks by this suspect.

A motive for the shooting is still unknown and the suspect has not been apprehended.

The 27-year old man, who has not yet been identified,  died Wednesday afternoon from his injuries.
