Ferndale Man Dies in Crash Near Lynden

Lynden, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a vehicle versus semi-truck crash on State Route 546 near Northwood Road around 2:48 p.m. today.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 37-year old Cody Hodges of Ferndale was traveling Southbound on Northwood Road in a white 1996 Chevrolet C25 Pickup at a high rate of speed.

Troopers say Mr. Hodges entered a roundabout at Northwood Road and SR 546 and drove underneath a Westbound, 2013 Peterbuilt Semi Tractor towing a 2009 Utility Trailer. Mr. Hodges died at the scene.

The Semi Truck was being driven by 53-year old Gilles Limoges of Morinville, AB.

Troopers say witnesses told them the pickup was traveling between 80 and 100 miles per hour at the time of the crash.  The press memo states Mr. Hodges was not wearing a seat belt.  Troopers say it is too early to tell if drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.

Next of Kin was notified by Trooper King with the Oregon State Police.

BJ’s Towing impounded the pickup for safe keeping.

The official cause of the crash remains under investigation and no charges are expected against the semi-truck driver.
