Burlington, WA – The Burlington Police Department responded to an armed robbery call at 2:20 a.m. on May 26th, 2017 at the Chevron Food Mart in the 1300 block of South Burlington Boulevard.
According to court documents obtained through a public disclosure request by SkagitBreaking.com, a female suspect entered the Chevron and used the restroom before walking up to the counter and handing the clerk a note that said something to the effect of “give me the money, I don’t want to hurt anybody.”
The Clerk asked the female if she was serious and the female stated she needed money. The clerk handed the female a $5.00 bill out of her pocket and the suspect responded by saying something to the effect of “you are really not going to do this, I really don’t want to hurt anybody.” The female then pulled a black handgun from her sweatshirt, showing it to the clerk and then held the gun at her side. The clerk then opened the cash register and gave the woman an undisclosed amount of money in a plastic bag.
The suspect then fled on foot Northbound out of the store. A K-9 was called in to track the suspect and a description of the suspect was broadcast to area Officers. The K-9 lost track of the scent around Pier 1 on Burlington Boulevard.
A Sedro-Woolley Officer responding to assist with containment recognized a motor home leaving the Burlington area and knew the motor home belonged to a female who was known to Officers, that matched the description of the Robbery suspect. Burlington Officers confirmed they saw the motor home leave the area as they were arriving to the robbery. Sedro-Woolley Officers then made a traffic stop on the motor home in the 23000 block of Howey Road.
A photo lineup was given to the clerk who identified the female in the motor home as the robbery suspect who had robbed her at gunpoint.
33-Year old Jennifer Palmer and 36-year old Jeremiah Palmer were both taken into custody and transported to the Burlington Police Department where they were separated and interviewed. Jennifer Palmer admitted to Officers that she had committed the robbery and Jeremiah was waiting for her in the motor home near the Farmer Supply store on the Boulevard.
According to court documents, Jennifer admitted to using the money to put gas in the motor home and to buy Heroin. Jeremiah admitted to knowing about the robbery and driving the get away motor home with Jennifer to purchase drugs and fuel. Officers obtained a search warrant for the vehicle where they found the gun used in the robbery, a black BB Gun handgun, heroin, clothing, sunglasses, etc.
Both suspects were booked into the Skagit County Jail.
Jennifer Palmer is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail for investigation of Robbery 1st Degree.
Jeremiah Palmer is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail for investigation of Robbery 1st Degree as well as two other charges for unrelated warrants. Theft 3rd Degree out of the Mount Vernon Police Department and Dangerous Weapons out of the Sedro-Woolley Police Department.
