Missing Ferndale Man Found Dead Near Samish Lake Park

Whatcom County, WA– The body of a man reported missing from Ferndale around 10:00 am on June 26th, 2017 has been found.

According to a press release from the Ferndale Police Department, 21-year old Eduardo Tapia was having a schizophrenic  mental health episode  when he left his home in the 1400 block of Rainier Avenue.  He had a history of depression and left a note telling his family he loved them and took a rope with him before leaving in a car.

Detectives used cell phone data to  try to pinpoint his last known  location by pinging his cell phone.  A Detective  found his vehicle in the parking lot of the Samish  Lake Park and a search of the area was conducted.

Mr. Tapia was found deceased from self-inflicted injuries during the search of the area.
