Motorcyclist Injured After Improper Passing

Lewis County, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a two vehicle crash on Eastbound State Route 12 near milepost 123 around 11:56 a.m. on September 1st, 2017.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 70-year old Patricia Brown of Arlington was traveling Westbound on State Route 12 in a black 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV when she attempted a left turn across the Eastbound Lanes into a private driveway.  56-year old Robert Estep of Crosby Texas  was following her on a 2008 Honda Goldwing when he attempted to pass her on the left as she turned.  The motorcycle struck the Tahoe in the Eastbound Lanes.  Mr. Estep was injured and transported to Morton General Hospital.  Patricia Brown was not injured in the collision.

The press memo states Mr. Estep had a valid motorcycle endorsement and was wearing a USDOT compliant helmet at the time of the crash. Alcohol was not suspected in the crash.

The cause of the crash is listed as Improper passing. Charges are pending against the motorcycle driver.
