Adams County, WA – The Washington State Patrol and Adams County Sheriffs Deputies are investigating the death of a male subject who led police on a high-speed chase before jumping onto a moving train on September 12th, 2017.
According to a press release from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, Washington State Patrol Troopers attempted to stop a red vehicle for speeding near Connell, but he took off. The driver had been eluding Franklin County Deputies, Washington State Patrol Troopers and Connell Police Officers at speeds of over 100 miles per hour. The driver continued eluding Officers from Franklin County into Adams County where Deputies and Troopers set up spike strips to slow down and stop the fleeing vehicle. The spike strips were ineffective.

During the pursuit on I-90 near Milepost 238 in the area close to Ritzville, the subjects vehicle lost its tires and came to a stop.
As Officers were ordering the male driver out of the vehicle, he fled on foot up an embankment and onto an overpass in the area. The overpass was above train tracks. The male subject jumped off the overpass onto a moving train below,. The Train Engineer stopped the train and involved agencies found the man dead on a train car.
Troopers did not immediately identify the driver, pending notification of next of kin.
Multiple agencies are involved in the ongoing investigation.
