Hamilton, WA – The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 14-year old male around 8:00 p.m. on February 12th 2018 for stabbing his grandmother in the neck with a large kitchen knife as she slept on her couch.
According to a press release from Chief Criminal Deputy C. Rosenzweig with the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office, at the time of the call, deputies were dispatched to a stabbing that had just occurred in the 800 block of Stella Road, about four miles West of Longview, Washington.
Arriving deputies found 59-year old Sharon Hesseldahl had been stabbed in the neck with a large kitchen knife by her 14-year old grandson, who Deputies say was just standing in the living room, motionless when they arrived, The boys uncle, 55-year old Kenneth Harla had called 9-1-1 and was attending to the victims stab wound.
The victim was transported by Medics to St. Johns Hospital where she underwent surgery and is expected to survive.
The 14-year old suspect had previously been arrested in Hamilton, Washington in Skagit County for stabbing his mother. The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office did not disclose the victim’s injuries or any motive for the stabbing.
The teen was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center for Assault 1st Degree and is scheduled to be seen in the Cowlitz County Superior Court.
