Mount Vernon, Wa- Dr. Gabriel Mast’s doctoral dissertation, “Institutional Effects on Community College Completion: An Analysis of Washington State’s Community College System,” has been rewarded with the 2017 Washington Education Research (WERA) Outstanding Dissertation Award.
In addition, Dr. Mast’s dissertation was one of 13,000 entries to be presented at the American Educational Research Association (AERA) Annual Meeting.
Dr. Mast became a part of Skagit Valley College in 2015 and currently acts as the College’s Dean of Arts and Sciences. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Washington in 2017, and his research is focused on institutional contributions to student success, inclusive pedagogy, faculty professional development, institutional reform, and the role of higher education in social mobility and equity.
