Snohomish County, WA- The Washington State Patrol responded to a fatal vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Eastbound State Route 522 near Echo Lake Road around 10:29 p.m. on July 3rd, 2018.
According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 51-year old Alicia Chavez Barragan of Monroe was in a vehicle parked on the Westbound Shoulder of State Route 522 at Milepost 19. Troopers say she exited a vehicle and attempted to cross both lanes of traffic to retrieve lost belongings when she was struck by a 2018 Audi Q7 SUV being drive by 34-year old Ibrahim Nasirahmed of Monroe. She died as a result of the crash. Nasirahmed was not injured in the crash.
Several passengers in the Audi were also not injured. They were 38-year old Zehra Bhatti of Bothell, 22-year old Cloie Delmonte of Monre and 1-year-old Mikail Ibrahim of Monroe.
The cause of the incident is under investigation. Charges are not expected in the incident.
