Sedro-Woolley, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a fatal crash on State Route 20 at Rhodes Road just before 1:00 a.m. on July 8th, 2018.
According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 64-year old Wayne Gunsolley and 67-year old Patricia Gunsolley, both of Sedro-Woolley, had parked their vehicle Eastbound State Route 20 at Rhodes Road, blocking the right turn lane. Both occupants had reportedly exited the vehicle and were standing in the Eastbound Lane of State Route 20.
At the same time, 30-year old Trina Junkert of Burlington was traveling Eastbound on State Route 20 at Rhodes Road in a gray 2006 Nissan Titan Pickup when she struck both pedestrians, killing them instantly.
Troopers say Junkert was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash. She was not injured and was arrested and booked into the Skagit County Jail for investigation of Driving Under the Influence and two counts of Vehicular Homicide.
Two Passengers in Junkert’s vehicle, 31-year old Stevie Christian of Sedro-Woolley and 32-year old Marlea Hood of Sedro-Woolley were not injured in the crash.
Troopers say all three females were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The Nissan Titan was impounded for evidence to the Washington State Patrol Bullpen in Burlington.
