Two Injured in DUI Crash on Samish Way in Whatcom County

Whatcom County, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash in the 4900 block of Samish Way around 9:58 p.m. on July 24th, 2018.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 19-year old Selena Pool of Bellingham made a left hand turn onto Southbound Samish Way from a mobile home park in a white 1999 Volkswagen Jetta  when she struck a red 2000 Ford Ranger being driven Northbound on Samish Way by 60-year old David Evans of Bellingham. 

Troopers say Pool was not wearing a seat belt and was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash. She was injured and transported to St. Josephs Hospital in Bellingham for treatment.

Mr. Evans was wearing a seat belt and was injured and transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bellingham for treatment.

Both vehicles were damaged and impounded to the Washington State Patrol District 7 bullpen.

The cause of the crash is listed as Reckless Driving and Driving Under the Influence by Pool. Additional Charges of Vehicular Assault are also expected against Pool.
