Grandfather Shoots and Kills Grandson in Everett

Everett, WA – Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit in Everett, Washington are investigating a shooting that killed one man in Everett.

According to a press release from the Everett Police Department, just before 10:15 a.m. on September 2nd, 2018 Officers responded to the 700 block of Madison Avenue for reports of a shooting.

Arriving Officers secured the area and attempted to contact the occupants of the house. When this failed, officers broke out a window of the house and gained access to the residence. Inside, Officers found a deceased male in his 40’s, who had been shot. A 94-year old male was taken into custody. Detectives later learned that the males are related as Grandfather and grandson.

The 94-year old male was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett where he remains in protective custody due to mental health concerns.

Criminal Charges will be referred to the Snohomish County Prosecutor’s Office for review and possible charges.

There remains no motive for the shooting.
