Sedro-Woolley, WA – A Sedro-Woolley man who had been fishing on the Skagit River at the “pipeline hole,” just up from the Steelhead Club near Fruitdale and River Roads was reported as a missing or overdue person to local authorities.
A friend of the man, David Anderson posted on Social Media around 9 a.m. on May 10th, that he was looking for help from the community in locating his missing friend, Steve Adams. Anderson posted “Looking for a lost fishing buddy on the Pipeline hole on the Skagit River, just up from the Steelhead Club. Any help would be appreciated. On site now, boots in the brush and boats on the river. Message me if you have any info or are headed out to help search. Please share and help us find our friend.”
The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office requested a helicopter crew with the United States Customs and Border Protection. The crew was called in to assist in an aerial search of the river for the missing man. The crew was able to locate a man’s body, believed to be Adams, in the Skagit River, not far from where he had last been fishing.
The body was recovered from the Skagit River and turned over to the Skagit County Coroner’s Office for positive identification and to investigate the cause and manner of death.
Anderson Posted an update on Social media stating “Steve has been found and the search called off. No further details will be posted. Thank you to SCSO, Sedro PD, Upper Skagit, Skagit Breaking and the community for all your help.”
