Motorcyclist Injured After Hitting Deer on SR525

Island County, WA- The Washington State Patrol responded to a motorcycle versus deer crash on State Route 525 in Island County around 9:14 p.m. on August 6th, 2019.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 57-year old Will Morgan of Coupeville was traveling Southbound State Route 525 at Newman Road on a yellow 2015 Yamaha FZ09 when a deer crossed into the Southbound Lane in front of him.  Morgan couldn’t stop in time and struck the deer.  He was injured and transported to Providence Hospital for treatment.

Troopers say Morgan had a valid motorcycle endorsement, was wearing a USDOT compliant Helmet and was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The Motorcycle was damaged and impounded to Simmons Towing for safe keeping.

The cause of the crash was listed as “Deer Crossed the Road.” No Charges are expected.
