Winning $1.3 Million Lotto Ticket Sold in Mount Vernon

Skagit County, WA– A Mount Vernon Couple has 1.3 million reasons to celebrate after purchasing a $1.3 million dollar winning lotto ticket from Little Mountain Gas and Grocery on East Blackburn Road in Mount Vernon.

According to a press release from the Washington State Lottery, the winner has won before but never this much. “My biggest win was $100. I was quite surprised when this happened,” said the winner who remained anonymous.  His wife was equally surprised. She responded with “I don’t believe you” when he shared the news of his win with her.

The winner has no immediate plans for his winnings. “I’m pretty boring” he laughed. “We’ll go out to dinner to celebrate.”

This is not the first time Little Mountain Grocery has sold a Winning Ticket. In 2015, Wes LaRoque went to Little Mountain Grocery for some milk and bought a ticket that ended up being worth $70,000.

The store will receive a 1% sales bonus or $13,000 from the Washington State Lotter for selling the winning ticket.

Proceeds from Washington’s Lottery benefit the Washington Opportunity Pathways Account, which provides grants to help college students statewide achieve their higher education dreams, and supports early childhood education learning programs.
