2019 Winter Coat Drive

Mount Vernon Police Set Goal of Providing 1,000 Coats to Those in Need

***Press Release***

Over the past several years, the Mount Vernon PoliceDepartment and Community Action of Skagit County have worked together to collect thousands of coats and jackets forfamilies in need of assistance.  This year is no different…..we need to help keep them warm!

Our goal for 2019 is to collect 1,000 new and gently used winter coats for all ages and sizes.  The Coat Drive begins October 15, 2019, and runs through December 16, 2019.   Collection bins will be located at the Mount Vernon Police Department, Mount Vernon City Hall, Mount Vernon Library, Mount Vernon Fire Station #2, and Community Action.  This year we are also asking for monetary donations to better focus the needs.  During the late winter and early spring months, the donated coats will be distributed by Community Action to families and residents who need them most.  Community Action uses donated funds to purchase coats to meet specific needs of individual families. Remember, all your contributions/donations remain in Skagit Valley!!!
