Update Missing Hiker


On 10-18-19 the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office was asked to assist National Parks Service for an overdue hiker in the Hidden Lake area near Marblemount, Wa in Skagit County.

Deputies located the hiker’s vehicle at the trailhead to Hidden Lake. Deputies learned that the hiker is a twenty-eight year old Moses Lake female who planned to stay the night at the lookout cabin at Hidden Lake and return on 10-18-19 sometime after 2pm.

On the morning of 10-19-19 a search and rescue team respondedup the trail in an attempt to reach the cabin.  The team was able to hike up to 6000’ but had to turn around due to safety concerns as the weather was extreme and the avalanche danger was also high.

On 10-20-19 another search and rescue team responded up thetrailhead and made it to within a few hundred yards of the cabin but again had to turn around due to safety concerns.

The search has resumed Tuesday morning with a search and rescue team again attempting to get to the cabin that sits at 6,800’.  The team is currently at 6,000’ attempting to reach the cabin.

Today 10-22-19 search crews reached the cabin at Hidden Lake and the missing hiker was not located. The search crew is actively searching for her on their way down off the mountain.

The search will continue tomorrow morning.
