Deception Pass, WA – Police, Fire and Marine Search and Rescue Units from Skagit and Island County are actively searching for a subject that possibly jumped from the East Side of the  Deception Pass Bridge on State Route 20.

According to police scanner traffic from the Island County 9-1-1 center (ICOM), witnesses called 9-1-1 to report a subject reportedly went over the railing of the Deception Pass Bridge just before 6:30 p.m. Police units had already been in route to the area for reports of a possible blocking vehicle in the area when dispatchers received reports of a person who had possibly jumped from the bridge.

Units on scene quickly confirmed a person was no longer on the bridge and initiated a full Marine Search and Rescue Response.  The United State Coast Guard launched a boat from Bellingham and a Helicopter from Port Angeles.

This is a developing story and additional information will be released if and when it becomes available.
