Landslide Closes South Skagit Highway Near Milepost 5

Skagit County, WA– The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office and Public Works have responded to a reported landslide on South Skagit Highway near Mile Marker 5 between Clear Lake and Day Creek.

Police Radio Scanner Traffic indicated the roadway would be closed as the responding Deputy could see and hear parts of the hillside continuing to move and the Eastbound Lane was completely blocked.

The picture below was submitted by Skagit Breaking viewer Taylor Schuh of the incident and shows trees and mud in the roadway.
