Burlington, WA – On September 2, 2020 at 4:42 AM Burlington Police were advised of an armed robbery that had occurred at the Angel of the Winds Casino approximately an hour earlier. There were two adult males and one adult female involved in the robbery. The suspects had used the victim’s ATM card at a Mount Vernon business. Stillaguamish Tribal Police provided suspect descriptions along with a description of the vehicle they were driving. One of the suspects was allegedly armed with a pistol.
At approximately 6:56 AM Burlington patrol officers located the suspect vehicle from the robbery parked in the Fred Meyer parking lot occupied by one adult male. Burlington officers detained the subject on an investigation of robbery. Burlington police then observed a second male subject matching the description of the armed suspect exit the Fred Meyer store. Burlington detectives contacted the subject who then fled on foot. Burlington detectives and officers were able to apprehend the suspect without incident. A loaded pistol was located discarded in the grass where the suspect had been apprehended. Burlington officers checked the area but were unable to locate the involved female.
The main robbery suspect who ran from Burlington Police and discarded the loaded firearm was turned over to Stillaguamish Tribal Police to be booked into Snohomish County jail. The other male suspect will be booked into the Skagit County Jail on charges related to illegal drugs.
