Man Dies After Falling into Lake McMurray

Lake McMurray, WA – Local First Responders from the Lake McMurray Fire Department and Skagit County Fire District 3 as well as the Skagit County Sheriff’s Department  responded to a 9-1-1 call for a possible Water Rescue in the 23000 block of State Route 9 on Lake McMurray around 10:29 a.m. on September 12th, 2020.

According to audio logs, a man in his 30’s who  had been previously working on a dock in the area, was found by  a family member floating in the lake near the shore.  It is unclear what happened or how the man ended up falling into the lake.  Witnesses and local first responders attempted life saving measures, but the man unfortunately died at the scene.

The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office did not have additional details on the man and said the Skagit County Coroner’s Office would be releasing the identification and cause and nature of death once their investigation had been completed.
