Young Concrete Woman Dies in Crash on State Route 11 at Field Road

Skagit County, WA– The Washington State Patrol responded to a two-vehicle “High Risk” collision on Northbound State Route 11 at Field Road around 8:53 p.m. on October 16th, 2020.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 23-year old Lexi Runnels of Concrete was traveling Westbound on Field Road in a silver 2008 Toyota Yaris when she failed to stop at a stop sign at Field Road and State Route 11.   Troopers say her vehicle collided with a green 1997 Dodge Dakota Pickup that was traveling Northbound on State Route 11.

Local Firefighters and medics responded to the scene and performed life saving measures on Lexi Runnels, including calling an air ambulance to assist with transport.   She was transported to Skagit Valley Hospital where she died of her injuries.

The driver of the truck, identified by Troopers as 21-year old Joseph Cooper of Edmonds was not injured in the crash. A passenger in his truck, 19-year old Brooke Moore of Edmonds was injured and transported to Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.

Troopers say it is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. All three occupants of both vehicles were wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision.  The cause of the crash is listed as “Failure to stop at stop sign.”

Both vehicles were totaled.  Peter’s Towing impounded the Toyota Yaris and Joes Towing impounded the Dodge Pickup.
