Mount Vernon Woman Dies in Crash on I-5

Fatal Crash

Skagit County, WA- The Washington State Patrol responded to a high risk crash involving two vehicles on Southbound I-5 near milepost 232 in Burlington around 6:37 p.m. on August 3rd, 2021.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 36-year old Jennifer Scott of Mount Vernon was traveling Southbound I-5 in a silver 2004 Toyota Tacoma truck when she attempted to pass a 2012 Dodge Charger on the right shoulder of I-5.  Troopers say she lost control of her truck, struck the Dodge Charger and the truck rolled  before  both vehicles came to rest in the center median of I-5.  Jennifer Scott died at the scene. The driver of the Charger, identified by Troopers as 33-year old Esai Ibarra-Vasquez of Mount Vernon was not injured in the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Both Vehicles were totaled and impounded by Carl’s Towing of Burlington.
