Impaired Wrong Way Driver on I-5 in Everett Kills Two Lynnwood Residents

Snohomish County, WA– The Washington State Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash on Southbound I-5 just South of 41st near milepost 19207 in Everett around 1:01 a.m. on February 19th, 2022.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 22-year old Caleb Wride of Everett was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and traveling Northbound in the Southbound Lanes of I-5 just South of 41st Street in a 2015 Chrysler 200 when his vehicle slammed into a 2016 Volkswagen Beetle. The Beetle was being driven by 67-year old Wildrido Sarmiento of Lynnwood.  The force of the crash Killed Sarmiento as well as his passenger, 65-year old Mila Sarmiento, also of Lynnwood. 

Troopers say WRIDE was injured and transported to Providence Hospital for treatment, where he was charged with Vehicular Homicide.

Both vehicles were totaled and impounded to the Washington State Patrol Bullpen as evidence.

The cause of the crash is listed as Driving Under the Influence and Wrong Way Driving.
